In jail, 6ix9ine balance the aptly named DUMMY BOY, his new album

Character more than questionable in the rap game, Tekashi 6ix9ine is at the bottom of the hole – literally. While his new album was to appear last Friday, the young multicolored rapper shifted the date of release of the project, following his arrest that could earn him life behind bars. Recall in pbading that the guy is suspected of belonging to the gang Nine Trey, a branch of the famous Bloods. But pending his trial to be held in September 2019, 6ix9ine had the bad surprise to discover this weekend that his DUMMY BOY leaked on the Internet … from his own site. The bad ones will say that it is karma.

The man with countless tattoos "69" and his team have finally decided to put this album on streaming platforms Tuesday, November 27 – the loss of profit was important. It must be said that this record was highly anticipated, both because of the popularity of the guy for his five-star cast. Thirteen titles for 34 minutes of listening, almost the same calibration as her previous project, Day69: Graduation Day, published last February and acclaimed by listeners. The boy seems to have found the formula.

We can hear the Canadian Tory Lanez and A Boogie wit da Hoodie, already present on the previous album. We also find the now inseparable Gunna and Lil Baby (who released the very good Drip Harder together last October 5th). But, above all, Kanye West and Nicki Minaj have been invited twice. And just for that, we'll listen DUMMY BOY.

True to himself, the New York rapper retains this very aggressive style that characterizes him well on big prods. A violence that permeates the project, if only in the typography of the album, with titles in capital letters and spelling mistakes (he made a feast to "STOOPID", for example), because It's so cool to be a gogol. Short.

The cover illustrates very well his mindset: he decided to piss on the rap game and does not care about everything. What insolence. It's going crazy, it's screaming at the top of its lungs, right from the first track with Bobby Shmurda (the famous "STOOPID"). It will be necessary to wait for the eleventh track to hear it alone, so the number of guests is important. And considering the mouth of the piece ("WONDO"), it may be no worse than it does that featurings.

The record is mostly due to these collaborations, but there are other good things. As when rapping more gently ("MAMA"), instead of shouting to tear the eardrums. It must be acknowledged that there is progress in this area, with a better balance than Day69: Graduation Day.

Latin music fans will also love the two titles in the middle of the project with Anuel AA, a very popular Puerto Rican rapper. A way for Daniel Hernandez of his true (yes, it is not really called 6ix9ine) to reconnect with his origins, his father being Puerto Rican. A collaboration that offers a kind of welcome exotic break thanks to the titles "BEBE" and "MALA". Even if we make the big auditory gap with the other tracks.

Then it starts again quarter-turn with "KANGA", featuring with Kanye West. And it's … disappointment. Yeezy only plays the song for a few seconds, while this good old Tekashi balances flows that we have already heard in his "Aulos Reloaded" with the very good Vladimir Cauchemar. To understand, the guy makes references to himself while he has released an hour of music in his career. In short, inspiration level will iron.

But DUMMY BOY still has a lot of good surprises, like the very cool and nice song "FEEFA", in the company of Gunna. "DUMMY", outro of the album with TrifeDrew, presents sounds much more musical and aerial than the other tracks. It feels good after half an hour of such intensity! Perfect to finish on a good note, even if we come out anyway leached from listening.

It's finally all the paradox of an eccentric kid who dreams of unicorns and rainbows, but who in fact badually badaulted girls, sells shit to cameos (heroin and fentanyl for example) and participates in shootings. We find this aspect in the music of 6ix9ine. As if he could not help but switch to the wrong side and make bullshit, he is forced to pour into the violence to the utmost. Is not he finally the rotten fruit of his time?

For it is above all a reflection of contemporary Western society, with its exaggerated insolence and animosity, this obsession with weapons and drugs. It is no coincidence that he has accumulated hundreds of millions of plays with such a speech. His life is more like reality TV than hundreds of millions of people. Daniel Hernandez is closer to an influencer than to an artist. The buzz of repeated clashes has taken precedence over music. Like his generation, he bites into life to the fullest, regardless of the consequences. But what remains in the end?

Basically, it's only been a year since 6ix9ine really exists on the US rap scene (thanks to its tube "GUMMO"). But considering the dirty sheets in which he stuffed himself, Tekashi could disappear almost immediately. 6ix9ine is just a marketing product that has pushed the limits of fast life. The fastest shooting star of show business, the most ephemeral comet of the star system.
