To revive the Prius, Toyota has not hesitated to revisit the design only three years after the launch of this fourth generation. Well, as you can see, the car does not fit, it softens its lines a little by erasing the biggest quirks. In the front, the optics lose the hook in the shield. At the back, finished the elephant tusks! The fires are now heading towards the trunk, eventually forming an amazing Z.
Toyota has not yet released images of the interior of the European version. But he details in his release what changes: improved head-up display, more efficient navigation system or enlarged smartphone charging area.
The big novelty is mechanical. The Prius receives a variant with integral transmission … but this one will not be proposed in France. For information, and because this technical evolution could however happen on the C-HR, in order to become a four-wheel drive, the car adopts a second electric motor, which is activated automatically when the car detects a loss of grip . The system operates between 10 and 70 km / h. This model receives a nickel metal hydride battery. The traction variant receives a new lithium ion battery. The 1.8 petrol engine and electric block unit does not move, with a cumulative power of 122 hp.
This refreshed Prius will arrive in the European Concessions at the end of the winter. Toyota already indicates the basic price: 30 300 €. It drops 500 €, but with small rims 15 inches instead of 17 inches.
