A vaccination campaign exceptional in Mayotte has allowed to vaccinate 13,500 children, announced Thursday Public Health France, which estimates the balance "positive" .
The health agency, announcing this campaign which lasted from 22 May to June 30, spoke however of a "objective of vaccinating 40 000 children" .
One out of two children was not up to date
"The first badessment is positive: more than 24,000 children under the age of six were seen in a vaccination center "she said. Of these, almost half were up-to-date, but 55% needed vaccines, or 13,497 of them.
The Ministry of Health had asked for the deployment of the Health Reserve in this department. -mer, for prevention purposes, after two fatal cases of whooping cough in late 2017 and early 2018.

Pertussis Vaccines
The most common was the so-called "Hexavalent" vaccine (Diphtheria, Tetanus, Pertussis, Hepatitis B, Poliomyelitis, Haemophilus Infections), with 9 012 children. The MMR vaccine (measles, mumps, rubella) was administered to 8,674 children. Finally, 7,448 children received the pneumococcal vaccine.
In 2012, 19% of the population of Mayotte was under six, according to INSEE. By applying this ratio to the current population, nearly 50,000 children are of this age today.
