This is news that may give cold sweat to history lovers. Netflix has just announced that it was preparing a fantastic series on the Revolution of 1789. The latter will be based on a scenario by Aurelien Molas, a young writer specializing in thrillers who had already illustrated for Arte with the mini-series "Maroni, the ghosts of the river".
Produced by the French production company John Doe, the show will tell us an alternative version of the event. Reached by a mysterious virus called "The Blue Blood", the aristocracy turns against the people and begins to attack. Joseph Guillotin, the hero of the series, will be responsible for investigating this strange epidemic affecting the country.
If the name tells you anything, it's because it's directly inspired by Joseph Ignace Guillotin. This French doctor and politician is not the inventor of the guillotine, but is known to have adopted it during the Revolution as the only mode of execution.
Between adaptations of Roald Dahl's works and the announcement of a live version of the cult Cowboy Bebop saga, Netflix is currently on all fronts. On the other hand, it is not certain that this vision can convince Mr. Mélenchon!
