For weeks, Montpellier police were trying to arrest thugs. They dressed in yellow vests, Saturday during the act XIX, to be able to stop them.
Yellow vests that stop a yellow Vest. The scene took place last Saturday in Montpellier during the act XIX of the mobilization. The group of Yellow Vests at the origin of the arrest was actually police officers dressed in t-shirts, bermuda or straw hat and therefore a yellow vest. Not to mention a telescopic baton.
The scene did not go unnoticed on the Place de la Comédie and quickly went around social networks. Contrary to many comments, the police had not infiltrated the demonstration to "flick" the protesters but to make a specific arrest: to call out the thugs.
The police fully badume the method used: "This strategy was set up this Saturday for the first time in Montpellier. It was intended to better target the thugs and has also allowed to challenge several in flagrante delicto which the one for the destruction of street furniture, we have to find an appropriate answer, having colleagues infiltrated among them allows quicker and less dangerous arrests. " Midi-Libre Rémy Alonso of the Alliance Police Union.
The method used has also received support on Twitter from the union of police commissioners CFDT.
Why did one of the policemen have a hammer in hand? The question came back to many yellow vests very critical of the police method. "When a breaker is stopped with a hammer, the first thing to do is to remove it from him," explains Rémy Alonso, "you have to discard all the dangerous or useful objects to the investigation, all the rest is only interpretation".
Twenty people were arrested last Saturday in Montpellier. Five of them were tried in immediate court Monday. Two of the five Yellow Vests – intoxicated and causing injury or threats to police officers – were sentenced to stiff prison terms.
