On Wednesday, the young Rotary de Perros met in the Captain's Room. On the agenda, the promotion of the action taken to fight against polio in the world and the inauguration of La Clarté granite plaque, to identify the meeting place of the service club.
"Polio is a viral disease that particularly affects children under 5," said Bernard Boubennec, president. The virus attacks the nervous system and causes partial or complete paralysis. There are no remedies but it can be avoided with a vaccine that costs less than one euro. This disease remains endemic in three countries in the world. In 1979, Rotarians made the very first donation in favor of this cause, which since 1985 has been a priority for Rotary in France. As a reminder, until this disease is eradicated, all children remain at risk. That's why Perros Rotary has donated to the International Foundation for the vaccination of 3,000 children. "
People wishing to support the fight against polio can send their donations to Rotary Perros-Guirec.
Rotary members then gathered around La Clarté's granite plaque for a grand opening. The opportunity to remember the genesis of Rotary de Perros, which was officially born in September 2017 and celebrated, just days ago, its first year of existence.
