Shortage of drugs against Parkinson's disease and certain cancers

Like many patients who suffer from Parkinson's disease, Thérèse Paoletti can no longer take her usual treatment. His medicines are out of stock. In Paca, as everywhere in France, they have become impossible to find in pharmacies. A shortage that worries patients.

Petition online

The France Parkinson badociation launched an online petition 4 days ago to ask for a quick solution to ensure the continuity of treatment. She has already collected more than 10,000 signatures.

430 medications concerned

But drugs for Parkinson's are not the only ones to miss. 430 drugs would be affected. Medicines against hypertension but also vaccines or anti-cancerous. "The crisis is global," explains Stéphane Pichon, president of the PACA-Corsica Pharmacists' Association, it's not a Franco-French problem.

There is today a globalization of the pharmaceutical industry which means that when there is a break in some countries of the world, at the end of the chain, the French drug or the French patient does not have the product.

For now, it is not clear when patients will be able to access their treatments again.
