The Boring Company cancels the drilling of a test section in West LA

After the Hawthorne test tunnel, The Boring Company tunnel boring machine should head east of the city for a project around the Dodger Stadium. Indeed, the main test stretch planned west of Los Angeles, to run to Culver City, was abandoned.

The Boring Company, one of the companies run by Elon Musk, whose drillers are digging a new underground transportation network in Los Angeles, announced earlier this week that it was abandoning its project for a section in the West of Los Angeles. Los Angeles, where a 17-mile (27.36 km) long tunnel was to be dug to Culver City. A decision taken when the city of Los Angeles was sued by several local badociations, as the Municipality had the idea to exempt the project from the usual environmental impact studies.

Often referred to by The Boring Company as "the Sepulveda Tunnel", it was allegedly dug between a company property on Sepulveda Boulevard and a station on Washington Boulevard in Culver City. This section project was filed by Elon Musk's company last year.

This does not mean that the drillers at The Boring Company will be stuck. In Los Angeles, the company's efforts should soon be focused on building a tunnel to the Dodger Statium, where the city's Major League Baseball (MLB) franchise operates. Dubbed Dugout Loop, this tunnel will have the mission to facilitate access to the stadium from the nearby public transport stations. Approximately 3 miles (4.82 km) long, it would carry fans to the stadium gates in 4 minutes in exchange for $ 1.

Meanwhile, the construction of the first test tunnel of The Boring Company and its access stations continues in the basement of SpaceX headquarters in Hawthorne, Elon Musk recently <a href=tweeted about the success of drilling and confirmed that this tunnel would open during December (the date of 10 was advanced).

Even if the cancellation of one of the sections of the company is an event to report, those who see a blow to the future of The Boring Company are probably a little fast in the work. Remember that the Municipality of Los Angeles is far from being the only one interested in the United States by the construction of new transportation networks to unclog major highways (the cities of Chicago and Washington are on the ranks). And while The Boring Company plans to take advantage of its drills in other major projects (including sewer and other underground networks).
