A judicial inquiry was opened against the store last October.

The director of Ikea de Lure, in Haute-Saone, was placed in police custody on Tuesday, November 27th after the death of an employee in the factory, crushed by a machine on August 21st, indicates France Bleu Besançon.

The public prosecutor of Haute-Saone, Emmanuel Dupic, announced Monday, October 15 the opening of a judicial investigation against Ikea for "manslaughter caused by breaches of a security obligation." Too high a sound level and a lack of safety standards were found during the investigation.

"There were no standards to avoid collisions between pedestrians and vehicles, the driver in question had no visibility, for example"said the prosecutor. The employee was crushed by a vehicle on a loading bay. A grinder was running at the time of the accident and "making so much noise that pedestrians could not hear the vehicles"said Emmanuel Dupic.
