POLITICS – It was the wish of the majority of yellow vests. On social networks, many of these angry French people demanded that any meeting with the decision makers be filmed and broadcast live on television. Éric Drouet, one of the eight spokespersons for the movement, fulfilled their wish. Well almost.
As you can see in the video posted hereon the group "France angry", the driver from Melun in Seine-et-Marne, filmed 1h15 of his meeting with the Minister and Secretary of State for the Ecological Transition François de Rugy (out-of-field, right), Emmanuelle Wargon (facing the camera) and Brune Poirson (off-camera, left) Tuesday, November 27 evening.
Broadcast live on facebook, the video shows or gives to the political leaders to exchange with Éric Drouet and Priscilla Ludosky, the two spokespersons received at the ministry about their demands and the speech of Emmanuel Macron before the High Council for the climate.
Dialogue of the deaf
His wish? "That people have an overview of what happened," he said at the end of the sequence, calling the support of the movement to relay mbadively.
From the beginning of the recording, we hear Priscilla Ludosky list the claims that come up most frequently in yellow vests and should be subject to the approval of citizens. "The people want to be the people, the citizens want to be consulted regularly (…) and the anger goes up, goes up, goes up, and it goes up again, and today's speech did not help things ", she says, referring to the President of the Republic's address to the High Council for the Climate. The two spokesmen reproach Emmanuel Macron for staying on the field of ecological transition without proposing anything to improve the purchasing power of the French.
"It did not make sense to make a speech about the Transition only, but it was going to go wrong," Priscilla Ludosky added. Answer by François de Rugy: "It was planned to make the presentation of the energy and climate policy and also, the president wanted us to broaden the subject a little on the method. (…) Taxes they are not not levied for the pleasure of taxes, they are levied for public expenditure "he argued, thus starting a kind of deaf dialogue between the two parties.
Many topics were raised around the table. From the political recovery of the movement to the divide between politicians and citizens. On this subject, François de Rugy spoke of a "social debate" with people "who will think that deputies and ministers are always overpaid." He also recalled the efforts made in recent years, under the five-year Hollande in particular. And the minister to warn his interlocutors that he has no "miracle recipe" to improve the purchasing power through the anecdote of a pensioner who reproached him – when he was still a deputy – to win in a month what she touched in a year.
"Is it normal now that we get the income of pensioners?" Priscilla Ludosky asks. Replica Brune Poirson, evoking the rise of the CSG: "It is also solidarity between the generations, it is for those who work."
Were the ministers aware?
In the end, the meeting did not result in much because, a few minutes after being out of the meeting, Eric Drouet once again called the yellow vests to demonstrate on the Champs-Elysees Saturday, December 1. A scene again filmed "from the inside" by the principal concerned.
After having exchanged with several journalists about his next media interventions, Éric Drouet answered a few questions about yellow vests that challenged him on his Facebook live. "Concretely, today nothing has happened. There is no progress, there is nothing at all, it was very well understood that for them, nothing was going to change, "he lamented.
As for the question of whether the video was shot in hidden camera, as suggested by the quality of the sound and images, without the ministers being informed, Éric Drouet remains elusive. "Even if they did not know, in the end they told us 'if you want to record or film, there is no problem' so he did not care a bit what." Contacted by The HuffPost, the department confirmed that it was not notified of this recording. "Apart from the method, this is not a problem because what was said in the appointment is completely public," said a close to a minister present around the table.
