Yellow vests: Versailles, big cities, Paris, border … what to expect for this sixth Saturday of mobilization?

EVENTS – Despite the decline in mobilization, a new day of action is scheduled this Saturday by some yellow vests. But on social networks, places of events accumulate: between the Paris region, the country's borders or 14 major cities, we take stock of what is planned for this "act VI".

A sixth "act" with multiple faces. The yellow jackets do not fade and intend to mobilize this Saturday, December 22 and despite the shortness of mobilization. But on the groups of yellow Vests, the proposals of places of gathering are multiple. So what to expect for this first day of Christmas holidays?

Several proposals in the Paris region

Eric Drouet, a figure much appreciated by Internet users, proposes not to go to Paris and "its small streets". Whoever is the initiative of the first "act" on Facebook, and whose group brings together nearly 260,000 members, proposes to go to Versailles. But the meeting point could still change, this "messenger" explaining as well as "the final place will be communicated" Saturday in the morning. A ploy he had already put in place last week, when he announced at the last moment a "sit in" on the Place de l'Opera.

The Palace of Versailles and the rest of the estate will still be closed on Saturday. A "preventive measure", according to the prefecture of Yvelines. For his part, Christophe Castaner, the Ministry of the Interior, commented on this possibility: "We are prepared for the hypothesis of Versailles but it can be elsewhere".

Yet, and unlike all other invitations to mobilize Eric Drouet, which had been particularly relayed, it does not take. This Friday, only 14,000 people say they want to participate. That's three times less than last week at the same time.

For, at the same time, a multitude of other proposals exist. Among these, "Act 6 Let's prepare Christmas in Paris!" proposes a rally on Place de l'Opéra, in Paris, to mobilize peacefully to "dissuade the police" from charging.

But other places could arrange the majority of yellow vests, in demand of "new strategy". Thus, a map turns on Facebook, especially in private conversations. She proposes to go to 14 big cities, like Lille, Bordeaux, Toulouse or Lyon, to give a "mbad effect" to the movement. And carefully avoid Paris, which must remain "empty".

A solution that could be chosen by Maxime Nicolle. The one called Fly Rider, whose live videos on Facebook are seen for some more than 400,000 times, has warned that he will not go to Versailles and he will surely be mobilized in his region. "There is a good chance that I will be in Dinan on Saturday, because I would like to go home a little," he said in a live broadcast late Tuesday night.

From 14:00 to 17:00, the collective "Sans Etiquettes" calls for a rally at Place de la République.

Finally, another event calls for blocking borders, to make common cause with the yellow vests of neighboring countries. A message relayed by Priscillia Ludosky, initiator of the first online petition against rising fuel taxes. On Facebook, the objective being to "block all trucks for import and export".

Among the borders proposed on events, the one with Spain should be particularly agitated because separatists Catalans have already announced that it would join the movement by blocking many roads between the Pyrenees-Orientales and Catalonia. The prefecture of Pyrénées-Orientales announced that "difficulties of circulation on the border zone (A9 and RD900) are to be expected" because of this mobilization.

The "Yellow Vests Free"

Wednesday, December 19, Benjamin Cauchy, spokesman for "Free Yellow Vests", also called for furniture. "The Christmas lights will not hide the misery this year," he said on BFMTV. Disappointed with a social dialogue that "goes only in one direction", after trying to negotiate with the government, this figure of the movement now wants an "act 6". Questioned by our colleagues, he considers his side to block the "huge structures that do not pay taxes in France." An umpteenth proposal that adds to the already long list of places proposed on Facebook for a possible sixth weekend of mobilization.

In any case, the police forces should once again be particularly mobilized. Laurent Nuñez, Secretary of State at the Ministry of the Interior, said on LCI this Thursday: "Saturday, there will be the same device as last week."
