ATLANTA – Observers are preparing for the biggest super-moon of the year.

The moon of the snow or the moon of hunger will rise in the night sky next Monday and will enter what is called the perigree, when the moon is closest to the Earth, which takes place on Tuesday morning, according to The NASA.

The moon will look much brighter and bigger Tuesday night in a phenomenon called supermoon.

STORIES TRENDS:

While January is traditionally the coldest month of the year, the month of February is when it falls the most snow, hence the name Snow Moon.

Since it was also difficult to hunt in February, Native American tribes and early American settlers also called it the Hunger Moon.
