Georgia Republican official named as plaintiff by Sidney Powell never agreed to take part in trial

A GOP County Chairman who is listed as a plaintiff in the fraud trial of former Trump attorney Sidney Powell said he never agreed to take part in the lawsuit.

Republican President of Cobb County in Georgia, Jason Shepherd, told the Atlanta Journal-Constitution On Thursday morning, he and his associates need “more information” before they can sign Powell’s electoral fraud lawsuit. “We (Sidney Powell’s business partner and I) discussed that Cobb GOP was a complainant, and I was open to the idea given a host of troubling issues that we saw just in the Cobb County, but we needed more information to at least make sure the leadership was okay with us being a party to the lawsuit, ”Shepherd wrote in the statement.

“As of last night’s deadline, I didn’t have this information and I hadn’t received the consensus of our other officers, so I called Powell’s associate to state that we were unfortunately not going. I could be part of the lawsuit, but I would be more than happy to work with her and Sidney Powell and report any other irregularities that I have seen in Cobb County. The Trump campaign has put distance between her and Powell after she has appeared alongside Rudy Giuliani and other members of the legal team on several occasions over the past month. In an appearance at a press conference last week, Giuliani and Powell highlighted Trump’s “multiple paths to victory” by toppling states like Georgia, Michigan, Nevada, Arizona and Pennsylvania. No state has so far accepted the legal challenges of the president’s team.
