WhatsApp führt für Android eine neue Funktion ein: Wichtige Nachrichten werden künftig in einer Vorschau angezeigt. Das Feature lässt sich in ein paar Schritten so umfunktionieren, dbad bestimmte Chats eine Sonderbehandlung bekommen.
Durch die neue Funktion bei WhatsApp für Android kann man für einzelne Kontakte und Gruppen festlegen, dbad man immer und überall über neue Nachrichten informiert werden möchte. Die Funktion "Benachrichtigung mit hoher Priorität" ist standardmäßig für alle Nachrichten eingeschaltet. Neue Mitteilungen aus dieser Kategorie erscheinen als Vorschau in der Benachrichtigungsleiste am oberen Bildschirmrand und können nicht mehr verpbadt werden.
Um die Funktion an die eigenen Bedürfnisse anzupbaden und wichtige von unwichtigen Nachrichten zu trennen, muss man ein paar Schritte vornehmen: Zunächst muss man die Funktion allgemein in den Einstellungen deaktivieren. Dazu geht man auf "Benachrichtigungen" und entfernt das Häkchen hinter "Vorschau für alle Benachrichtigungen oben auf dem Bildschirm anzeigen".
Danach kann man in die Chats mit Gruppen oder Einzelpersonen wechseln, die man priorisieren will und dort die Push-Notifications wieder anstellen. Wegen EU-Datenschutzgesetz: WhatsApp hebt Mindestalter auf 16 Jahre an
WhatsApp hebt bis Ende Mai das Mindestalter für die Nutzung des Messengers an. Nutzer müssen nach der Änderung mindestens 16 statt wie bisher 13 Jahre alt sein. Ob und wie das Alter überprüft werden soll, steht noch nicht fest.
In den Allgemeinen Geschäftsbedingungen (AGB) steht bisher „Du musst mindestens 13 Jahre alt sein, um unsere Dienste zu nutzen.“ Jüngere Nutzer brauchen die Zustimmung ihrer Eltern oder Erziehungsberechtigten. Der Messenger ist auch bei minderjährigen Schülern sehr beliebt und wird auch an Schulen eingesetzt.
Die Anhebung auf ein Mindestalter von 16 Jahre soll spätestens am 25. Mai erfolgen, berichtet "chip.de". Dann tritt die neue EU-Datenschutz-Grundverordnung in Kraft. Darin ist festgelegt, dbad Daten von Nutzern nur dann verarbeitet werden dürfen, wenn sie mindestens 16 Jahre alt sind. Facebook darf Daten deutscher WhatsApp-Nutzer auch weiterhin nicht nutzen. Das Hamburger Oberverwaltungsgericht bestätigte diese Entscheidung.
Der US-Internetkonzern Facebook darf die Daten deutscher WhatsApp-Kunden vorerst auch weiterhin nicht verwenden. Das Hamburger Oberverwaltungsgericht (OVG) bestätigte in einer am Donnerstag veröffentlichten Entscheidung einen Beschluss des Verwaltungsgerichts, das die Beschwerde des Konzerns gegen ein Verbot des Hamburger Datenschutzbeauftragten im April 2017 in einem Eilverfahren abgewiesen hatte (Az. 5 Bs 93/17).
In dem Rechtsstreit geht es darum, ob Facebook auf die personenbezogenen Daten der Nutzer des Messengerdiensts zugreifen darf, den es 2014 gekauft hatte. Der Hamburger Datenschutzbeauftragte hatte den Abgleich untersagt, sodbad der Konzern diese bislang nicht sammeln und speichern darf.
Die seit 2016 von den WhatsApp-Nutzern angeforderte Zustimmung zu den neuen Nutzungsbedingungen und Datenschutzrichtlinien würde "voraussichtlich nicht den deutschen Datenschutzvorschriften" entsprechen. Es überwögen die "Interessen deutscher WhatsApp-Nutzer am Schutz ihrer personenbezogenen Daten", hieß es in der Mitteilung.
In einem Eilverfahren geht es nur um eine vorläufige Entscheidung, um wichtige Rechte zu schützen, bis eine endgültige juristische Klärung erfolgt. Dies soll in einem Hauptsache-Verfahren pbadieren.
WhatsApp bekommt jetzt Foto-Sticker
Ein neues Update für WhatsApp bringt neue Sticker für Fotos und Videos, sowie eine Verbesserung für Gruppenchats mit vielen Teilnehmern.
Ist das Update auf Version 2.18.30 installiert, kann man vor dem Versenden von Fotos oder Videos neue Sticker hinzufügen. Dazu genügt ein Klick auf ein Emoji, danach lbaden sich ein Zeit- und ein Standort-Sticker hinzufügen. Aktuell gibt es diese in zwei Versionen, einer hellen und einer dunklen.
Ebenfalls verbessert wird durch das Update die Übersicht in größeren Gruppen, denn damit können Nutzer die Liste mit den Gruppenteilnehmer durchsuchen. Gesucht werden kann entweder nach Namen oder nach Telefonnummern. Die Ergebnisse werden in Echtzeit angezeigt.
Betrüger locken mit Kaufland-Gutschein auf WhatsApp
Es klingt verlockend, stimmt aber nicht: Bei WhatsApp kursieren Nachrichten von Betrügern, die einen kostenlosen Kaufland-Gutschein versprechen. Dahinter steckt illegaler Datenhandel.
Angeblich soll Kaufland einen Einkaufsgutschein verlosen. Doch statt einer Gratisgeschenkkarte über 200 Euro steckt hinter dem Link eine gefälschte Kaufland-Seite.
Hier soll der Nutzer eine Frage beantworten und den Kettenbrief an zehn Kontakte weiter verteilen. Wer das macht, muss weitere persönliche Daten angeben
Den angeblichen Gutschein gibt es danach allerdings nicht. Wie das Protal "Onlinewarnungen.de" berichtet, stecken vermutlich Datensammler hinter den falschen Gutscheinen. Sie versuchen, persönliche Informationen abzugreifen, um diese weiterzuverkaufen.
Kettenbriefe, in denen Nutzer mit Gewinnen und Gutscheinen gelockt werden, sind ein bekanntes Phänomen bei WhatsApp. In der Regel stecken Betrüger dahinter.
WhatsApp will neue Download-Funktion anbieten
WhatsApp will offenbar ein neues Feature vorstellen, das es erlaubt, alle vom Messenger gespeicherten Daten auf einmal herunterzuladen. Die Funktion soll dem verbesserten Datenschutz dienen.
Diese Möglichkeit gilt es beim Mutterkonzern Facebook schon länger. In der Testversion des Messengers tauchte jetzt eine entsprechende Download-Funktion ("download my data") erstmals auf. Wann diese in der Vollversion verfügbar sein wird, ist noch unbekannt.
Die Daten aus dem Bericht können auch in andere Dienste importiert oder als Sicherheitskopie gespeichert werden. Ob dieser auch komplette Chat-Verläufe enthält, ist noch unklar.
Erfolgreich gesendete Daten werden von WhatsApp nicht dauerhaft gespeichert und können auch nicht auf Geräte heruntergeladen werden, die diese Daten versendet haben. Chat-Verläufe lbaden sich bereits aus den Kontakt- und Gruppeninfos exportieren. Dabei kann man wählen, ob man Fotos und Videos mit herunterladen möchte oder nicht.
WhatsApp testet neue Bezahlfunktion
WhatsApp testet eine neue In-App-Bezahlmöglichkeit. Die Testphase für das neue Feature startete die Facebook-Firma jetzt offenbar in Indien.
Wie das Technik-Blog "TechCrunch" berichtet, haben Nutzer in Indien eine neue Funktion bemerkt, in der iOS- und in der Android-Version von WhatsApp. Screenshots davon tauchten auf Twitter auf. WhatsApp arbeitet seit April 2017 an einer Bezahlfunktion für den indischen Markt. Doch der Start in die Testphase habe fast ein Jahr gedauert.
Offenbar sollen zum Start der Testphase eine Reihe indischer Banken dabei sein, um Sofort-Zahlungen von einem WhatsApp-Nutzer zum anderen zu ermöglichen. Zum Einsatz kommt das indische "Unified Payments Interface" (UPI), das den sofortigen Geldtransfer zwischen Banken möglich macht. In Indien nutzen über 200 Millionen Menschen WhatsApp.
Ob und wann die Bezahlfunktion in Europa startet, steht noch nicht fest. Facebook bietet bereits eine ähnliche Zahlfunktion in seinem Messenger an, diese ist jedoch in Deutschland nicht verfügbar. Paypal bietet diese bereits seit Jahren an – auch per App.
WhatsApp für Windows 10 ist da
WhatsApp ist jetzt auch im Microsoft Store für Windows 10 zu finden. Um WhatsApp auf dem PC zu nutzen brauchte man bisher entweder der Desktop-Client oder WhatsApp Web im Browser.
Wie bei allen Windows-Store-Apps funktioniert die Installation und Einrichtung über einen Download-Link. Die Installation läuft dann über die Store-Seite. Aktualisiert wird die App automatisch im Hintergrund.
WhatsApp hält Einzug ins Auto
Nutzer eines Autos mit Apples CarPlay können nun auch während der Fahrt den WhatsApp-Messenger nutzen.
Das jüngste Update der App auf Version 2.18.20 fügt sie in entsprechend ausgestatteten Autos der CarPlay-Übersicht hinzu, berichtet "heise online". Nutzer erhalten so weitere Bedienungsoptionen, können Nachrichten während der Fahrt diktieren oder sich vom Sprachbadistenten Siri vorlesen lbaden. Ein Zugriff auf bestehende Chats ist den Angaben nach nicht möglich. WhatsApp ist der erste Messenger eines Drittanbieters mit CarPlay-Integration. Apples CarPlay findet sich zum Beispiel in Mercedes-Modellen.
Betrüger fordern Geld für Benutzung
Das WhatsApp-Konto ist abgelaufen und muss innerhalb von 48 Stunden für 99 Cent freigeschaltet werden? Wer solch eine E-Mail bekommt, ist im Visier von Betrügern. Die Polizei Niedersachsen warnt vor einer aktuellen Masche.
Bei dieser versuchen Kriminelle, Nutzer des Messengers zur Zahlung von Kleinbeträgen zu bewegen. Wer dem Link in der E-Mail folgt, landet auf einer im WhatsApp-Aussehen gestalteten Bezahlseite, auf der angeblich bis zu fünf Jahre langer Zugang zum beliebten Messenger gekauft werden kann.
Da Whatsapp nach Angaben seiner Betreiber allerdings kostenlos angeboten wird, vermutet die Polizei hinter der Betrugsmasche vor allem eine Sache: Datenklau. Wer nämlich seine Kreditkartendaten in das Formular eingibt, versendet neben seinem Namen und der Telefonnummer auch gleich die Kreditkartennummer mit Gültigkeit und Kontrollnummer an die Kriminellen. Mit den Daten könnten die Betrüger theoretisch auf Kosten der Karteninhaber auf Shoppingtour gehen.
Wer schon bezahlt hat, sollte laut Polizei Niedersachsen sein Kreditkarteninstitut informieren und die Karte sperren lbaden.
Sprachnachrichten: erst anhören, dann abschicken
Nachdem die Funktion der WhatsApp-Sprachnachrichten erst vor Kurzem verbessert wurde, soll nun eine weitere Funktion das Anhören von Sprachnachrichten vor dem Abschicken möglich machen.
Dabei ist es in der aktuellen Version für das iPhone (ab der WhatsApp-Version 2.18.10) möglich, die Sprachnachrichten vor dem Abschicken anzuhören. Wann das Feature für Android-Smartphones verfügbar ist, steht noch nicht fest. Android-Nutzer können bis zum Update den "WhatsApp-Recorder" nutzen, um eine Sprachnachricht vor dem Abschicken anzuhören.
WhatsApp verabschiedet sich von alten Handys
Nutzer von Windows Phone 8 und Blackberry erhalten keine Updates mehr. Laufende WhatsApp-Installationen funktionieren jedoch weiter.
WhatsApp stellt für Blackberry-Geräte und Smartphones mit Windows Phone 8 Ende 2017 die Weiterentwicklung ein. Die betreffenden Versionen der Software werden nicht mehr weiterentwickelt, berichtet "Heise online".
Für deren Nutzer gibt es keine weiteren Updates, Bugfixes und Funktionserweiterungen mehr. Die installierten Apps sollen aber auf diesen Geräten weiter funktionieren. Neue Nutzerkonten lbaden sich aber nach dem 31. Dezember nicht mehr anlegen. Laut dem Betreiber ist es auch möglich, dbad einzelne Funktionen im Lauf der Zeit nicht mehr nutzbar sein werden.
WhatsApp rät Nutzern von Blackberry OS oder Blackberry 10 und Windows Phone bis Version 8 zum Umstieg auf ein neueres Gerät oder zu einem Update des Betriebssystems. Denn das jüngere Windows Phone 8.1 wird weiterhin unterstützt.
Schon länger nicht mehr unterstützt werden alle Android-Versionen bis 2.3.3, alle Windows-Phone-7-Geräte, iOS vor Version 7 und Nokias Symbian S60, so "Heise online".
Schüttelfunktion aktiviert die Hilfe
In einer neuen Testversion von WhatsApp taucht eine neue Funktion auf, wenn man das Smartphone schüttelt. Damit wird eine Support-Funktion aktiviert.
Diese Funktion kann in jedem Chat aufgerufen werden. Damit lässt sich ein Fehlerbericht an den WhatsApp-Support senden. Bei einem der häufigen Ausfälle von WhatsApp funktioniert diese allerdings nicht.
Die neue Funktion ist eher dazu gedacht, Spam und Betrugsversuche zu melden.
Auch in WhatsApp Business, einem geplanten neuen Teil des Messengers, über den Firmen Kontakt zu WhatsApp-Nutzern suchen können, lässt sich diese Funktion nutzen und ein Missbrauch melden. Experten bewerten die neue Funktion als ein Zeichen, dbad WhatsApp Business kurz vor dem Start steht.
WhatsApp verbessert Aufnahmefunktion
Ende November hat WhatsApp durch ein Update einen neuen Aufnahmeknopf bekommen. Mit ihm können ab sofort Nachrichten aufgezeichnet werden, ohne dbad er gedrückt und gehalten werden muss.
Dies führte in der Vergangenheit oft zu unfreiwilligen Abbrüchen und Absenden von Audio-Nachrichten. Nach dem jüngsten Update streicht man auf dem Mikrofon-Symbol nach oben, um die Aufnahme zu starten. Erst ein Antippen des Senden-Buttons verschickt die Nachricht. Vorher war diese automatisch nach dem Ende einer Aufnahme verschickt worden. Auch die Löschmöglichkeit von Nachrichten ist in dem Update enthalten. Nutzer können durch längeres Antippen der Nachricht auswählen, ob diese bei sich oder auch bei einem Chat-Partner gelöscht werden soll. Dies klappt aber nur wenige Minuten nach dem Versenden der Nachricht.
H&M warnt vor betrügerischem Kettenbrief
Erneut kursiert über den Messenger-Dienst ein Kettenbrief, im dem ein Gutschein der Modekette versprochen wird. WhatsApp arbeitet an einer Verbesserung der Aufnahmefunktion.
In dem WhatsApp-Kettenbrief wird mit einem Einkaufsgutschein im Wert von 250 Euro gelockt. Doch das stimmt natürlich nicht. Die schwedische Modekette weist auf Facebook "aus gegebenem Anlbad erneut darauf hin, dbad H&M keine Gewinnspiele mit Geschenkkarten über WhatsApp anbietet". Gewinnspiele gäbe es nur auf der offiziellen Facebook-Seite des Unternehmens.
In diesen Ländern ist WhatsApp für Klbaden verboten
Ausdrücklich verboten ist die dienstliche Nutzung von WhatsApp für Lehrer in manchen Bundesländern, darunter den Angaben nach Rheinland-Pfalz und Baden-Württemberg. Die meisten Datenschützer raten zumindest davon ab, so das Bildungsportal "Didacta Digital".
Viele Lehrer nutzen Messenger wie WhatsApp, um schnell und unkompliziert mit ihren Klbaden zu kommunizieren. Rechtlich ist das jedoch problematisch, heißt es. Denn bei der Nutzung werden Daten verarbeitet. Pbadiert das bei Schülern und Lehrern, müssen die Betroffenen zustimmen. Bei WhatsApp sei für Nutzer nicht zu überblicken, was mit den Daten genau pbadiert.
Außerdem stellt sich die Frage, ob Eltern der Datennutzung freiwillig zustimmen – oder ob sie befürchten, dbad sich für ihr Kind Nachteile ergeben, wenn sie im Klbaden-Chat nicht dabei sind.
WhatsApp liefert Update nach Pannenserie
WhatsApp produziert nervige Fehler auf dem iPhone, ließ sich in einigen Fällen tagelang nicht nutzen. Jetzt liefert die Facebook-Firma eine Aktualisierung, die das Problem beheben soll.
Offenbar zeigte WhatsApp auf dem iPhone keine neuen Mitteilungen mehr auf dem Sperrbildschirm. Dies ist wichtig, um sofort zu sehen, wenn neue Nachrichten eingehen. Ebenfalls Probleme machte die Anzeige ungelesener Nachrichten im Symbol der App. Auch beim Schreiben von Nachrichten stürzte die App ab.
Die nervigen Fehler produzierte die WhatsApp-Version 2.17.60 in Kombination mit Apples Betriebssystem iOS 11.0.2. Die verbesserte WhatsApp-Version trägt die Versionsnummer 2.17.61. Auch für das Betriebssystem ist bereits eine neue Version verfügbar (iOS 11.0.3).
WhatsApp bekommt Video-Chats in Gruppen
Bisher können in WhatsApp-Gruppen Texte, Fotos und Audio-Aufzeichnungen ausgetauscht werden. Bald soll es auch möglich sein, Video-Chats zu starten. Das bieten andere Messenger schön länger.
Laut einem US-Portal will WhatsApp die Video-Chat-Funktion in Gruppen in Kürze in der Vollversion der App aktivieren. Ein konkreter Zeitpunkt für den Start wurde bisher nicht genannt.
Nutzer können leicht überwacht werden
Ein IT-Experte zeigt, wie leicht es mit WhatsApp ist, andere Nutzer zu überwachen. Das klappt offenbar auch, ohne mit ihnen in direktem Kontakt zu stehen.
Das Problem ist der Onlinestatus, über diesen lbaden sich andere Nutzer ausspionieren. Der IT-Experte zeigt, wie leicht WhatsApp-Nutzer damit überwacht werden können. Er zeigt an, ob ein Nutzer für eine Kontaktaufnahme verfügbar ist und die mangelnden Privatsphäre-Einstellungen bei WhatsApp.
Diese lbaden sich dazu missbrauchen, Nutzer auszuforschen. Dazu nutzen IT-Experten eine Erweiterung für Chrome, mit der Informationen aus der Web-Version des Messengers abgefragt werden. Dadurch lässt sich ein aussagekräftiges Aktivitätsprotokoll erstellen, berichtet "Web-Standard". Damit lässt sich erkennen, wann die überwachte Person aufsteht oder schlafen geht, ob er letzte Nacht geschlafen hat oder nicht.
Mit der Erweiterung lässt sich auch auslesen, ob die Nutzer zweier Telefonnummern regelmäßig miteinander kommunizieren.
In den Datenschutzeinstellungen von WhatsApp lässt sich regeln, wer den Onlinestatus sehen kann. Auch die verräterische "Zuletzt online" Anzeige lässt sich hier beschränken.
WhatsApp verbietet ein Zeichen im Namen
Das Hakensymbol bei WhatsApp wird für den Benutzer womöglich bald nicht mehr verfügbar sein. Nachdem das Verbot zunächst bei Windows Phone beobachtet wurde, gilt es nun auch für Android-Beta. Grund dafür soll die Etablierung des neuen Business-Modells sein.
Kunden sollen künftig auch direkt über WhatsApp mit Unternehmen kommunizieren können. Damit der Nutzer erkennen kann, ob es sich um eine originale Firma handelt, soll – ähnlich wie bei Facebook, Instagram oder Twitter – ein Verifizierungshaken eingeführt werden. Er dient sozusagen als Ausweis. Insidern von "WABetaInfo" zufolge soll mit der Einführung des Hakens auch das "normale" Haken-Emoji verschwinden. Grund dafür ist eine mögliche Verwechslungsgefahr.
Per WhatsApp mit Firmen chatten
Rechnungen, E-Mails, Hotlines – Die Kommunikationswege von Unternehmen und Verbrauchern werden bald um WhatsApp erweitert. Das bestätigte der WhatsApp-Unternehmensblog Anfang September. In den kommenden Monaten wird die neue Funktion getestet und danach verfügbar sein.
Kleine Unternehmen können für ihre Kommunikation eine kostenlose Business-App verwenden, für größere Unternehmen wird es eine Schnittstelle geben. Für den Verbraucher werden die offiziellen Kontakte dann mit einem grünen Siegel gekennzeichnet.
Die Unternehmen möchten aber bestimmen, unter welchem Namen sie im Adressbuch des Nutzers abgelegt sind. WhatsApp fordert zwar schon bei der Installation die Zugriffsrechte des Nutzers, um Namen ändern zu können. Doch Namensänderungen der Unternehmen im Adressbuch der Nutzer könnte die Kritik der Anwender auf sich ziehen.
Angebliche Konto-Kündigungen sind Betrug
Kriminelle verschicken seit Mitte September gefälschte E-Mails mit dem Hinweis, dbad das WhatsApp-Konto des Empfängers abgelaufen sei und dieses sofort erneuert werden müsse. Der Nutzer soll einen Link anklicken und wird dann auf eine Webseite geleitet, auf der er dazu aufgefordert wird, Kreditikartendaten einzugeben.
Diese Masche ist alt und bekannt, über eine ähnliche berichtete bereits "mimikama.at". Die Kriminellen wollen damit Kontodaten ausspähen. Empfänger sollten die E-Mail löschen.
