Three years ago, Nikon launched the predecessor Coolpix P900, which had an unusually large focal length for a camera to Fixed lens: The camera has an 83x zoom, up to a focal length of 2,000 mm
That beats the new Coolpix: Like its predecessor, the P1000 starts in the wide-angle range at 24mm and goes up to 39mm. at 3000 mm, which corresponds to a super telephoto lens. The camera also offers a digital zoom of up to 6,000 mm. The results are then but not usually so beautiful. The focal lengths are each converted into a small equivalent image.
The optical zoom is enough "to record craters on the moon" announces Nikon. Besides the fact that the focal length is also insufficient, it is mainly because the moon in front of the night sky is a very bright object in which it must strongly obscure. Because the long focal length costs of light intensity: The initial aperture at full zoom is f / 8. At a focal length of 24 mm it is f / 2.8.
Like its predecessor, the Coolpix P1000 has a 1 / 2.3-inch sensor with a resolution of 16 megapixels. The camera takes pictures in Nikon's jpg or RAW format and videos in 4K at 30 frames per second or in Full HD (1080p) at 60 frames per second. Photosensitivity ranges from 100 to 6400 ISO. For longer exposure times, an image stabilizer must compensate for camera shake. It compensates for five f-stops.
The camera has an electronic viewfinder with organic light-emitting diodes (OLEDs) and a resolution of 2.36 megapixels. On the back of the camera, there is a screen with a diagonal of 8.2 cm (8.2 cm) and 921 000 pixels. It can be folded and rotated, but does not allow touching.
The camera measures approximately 15 x 12 x 18 cm and weighs 1.4 kg. It should arrive on the market in September. The price is Nikon with 1100 euros.
