Microsoft has removed the old volume mixer from the taskbar of the latest Windows 10 insider release.
Even more than three years after the release of Windows 10, many overlaps remain between the new system settings and the old Windows Control Panel. Microsoft wants to change that in the future – at least in the case of the clbadic volume mixer, which you could open right now by right-clicking on the icon of the built-in speaker in the system tray.
As reported by Neowin, Microsoft has disabled this option in the latest version of Windows, currently available in the "Quick Ring" section of the Windows Insider program. Instead, the corresponding page now opens directly into the most up-to-date system settings.
On this page are basically the same setting options as in the old volume mixer. Again, you can adjust the volume of each application separately. In addition, you can also select an input and output source for each application individually.
Although the old volume panel is still available in the previous version of the Insider Preview, it can be called via the Control Panel on demand. Basically, Microsoft wants to take this step, but probably further from the old options and towards more uniformity in the new look.
