According to reports from Asia , Apple is using Japan Display's new Full Active LCD in its new entry-level model.
The next Apple iPhone LCD is supposed to receive a special screen that helps keep the edges narrower. This report comes from Asia, where in the meantime, the first fictitious models of the three new smartphone models have emerged (see photo), which seems to plan the group in the autumn of 2018.
Three iPhones almost without borders
Rumor has it that Apple will launch two new OLED iPhones and a new LCD model. The OLED devices are an "iPhone X 2" with a 5.8-inch display as a direct successor of the iPhone X and an "iPhone X Plus" with more screen area – probably with a diagonal display of 6.5 inches. A third new iPhone must receive an LCD, which is supposed to be almost borderless this time around, as the iPhone X says.
Thin edge a technical problem
Up to now , it was not clear how Apple solved the technical problems, LCDs possible without thick edge to build – OLED technology is considered more appropriate. Now, the Japanese Apple blog Macotakara of the group supply chain have learned that the iPhone LCD comes with a new screen. This is supposedly from Japan Display and is trading under the name "Full Active LCD". This should display borders of only half a millimeter are possible – the iPhone X currently has an edge of a millimeter wide.
New touch sensor
The corresponding touch sensor is supposedly also from Japan Display and should be very thin Pixel-Eyes. Reports, Apple is working with Japan Display on new LCDs that can do with less edge, there was already last year. The iPhone LCD should receive a 6.1-inch screen and round the iPhone product line down. However, the question arises, how Apple delimits this model then "iPhone X 2" and "X Plus" – the two would probably also have thinner edges.
