BlizzCon 2018: the ups and downs of the editorial

[ad_1]

The BlizzCon 2018 has closed its doors after a tumultuous weekend and it is already clear that she will remember the current vintage of Blizzard 's internal issue. We give the reasons in the following summits and flops of the publishers.

Top: appearance of Chris Metzen

When Chris Metzen retired from his position as senior vice president of story development and franchises in September 2016, Blizzard not only lost its creative spirit, but also the "Rampensau", which sparked the enthusiasm from the crowd to almost every BlizzCon. Chemistry has always been right between fans and Metzen. Not surprisingly, WoW's panel of questions and answers was filled with bright faces when the former Blizzard developer suddenly hit the mic. First, he provided the habitual mood in the lobby in the usual and friendly way, then he wanted to know when the Horde would regain its true warlord. A good time, when we said goodbye, we got goose bumps.

Flop: Diablo panels from hell

Although we did not like the style with which some fans are currently criticizing Diablo's policy for Blizzard, we can understand the disappointment and frustration, and it was a great shit moment with an announcement. A mobile game in the universe Diablo: THE highlight of the BlizzCon? Without having at least a DLC for Diablo 3 or a small teaser for a new PC Diablo in parallel? Do Blizzard managers really know their fans so well? Did they sleep when EA made a similar mistake to E3 with Command & Conquer Rivals? From the announcements of Gears Pop, did not they see how clever it was at Microsoft! and Gears Tactics to add a real Gears of War? With Immortal, Blizzard will surely welcome one or two new fans into their family, but at the same time, they will also drive away many Diablo fans from the very beginning.

Top: Warcraft 3 in pretty

We were expecting a remastered version of Diablo 2, plus the announcement of Warcraft 3 – Reforged surprised us. And positive, because we like the graphic style of modernization very well. Apparently, the developers here have had a lot more problems than with Starcraft Remastered, released last year. Plus, while Starcraft was an excellent RTS at the time, Warcraft 3 is one of the best games ever created for many players. Anyone who has not known the adventure of Arthas at the time should catch up with this gem of video history over the next year.

Flop: Blizzard Alignment

The fact that Blizzard is developing a mobile MMO with Diablo Immortal should not surprise anyone. Hearthstone, Heroes of the Storm and Overwatch are continuing: online games in which, with relatively little effort, a strategy of "games as a service" can be integrated. Here is a new map extension, as a new hero, there is a map and already rolls the ruble. Players expecting entertaining story campaigns from Blizzard have been on the track for years.

Top: The future of WoW

On the other hand, we were very satisfied with the future prospects of WoW. Patches 8.1.5 and 8.2 are expected to make the same number of changes as their Legion counterparts. So, in terms of quantity, we will not experience a second Warlords of Draenor. But the quality could be right. At least Nazjatar and Mechagon are very much in our ears as future destinations. In addition to the heroic war fronts, where you can actually lose, new craft quests, a PvP fight against AI opponents, the return of the fighting guild, a mega dungeon … pity that we were participating in the next Zuldazar raid until early 2019. wait.

Flop: virtual ticket

The virtual ticket cost ten euros more this year, but unfortunately, the quality of the stream did not benefit. For some Esport signs, we had bad dropouts, the German translation was sometimes really scary and the panel records were temporarily unavailable. After all, the Clbadic demo was pretty sweet, the time limit was no longer a problem for Saturday.
