  • FC Schalke 04 defeated Galatatsaray 2-0 after a strong performance.
  • Paris Saint-Germain still concedes equalization in Naples at 1: 1.
  • Liverpool lose surprisingly to Belgrade 2-0. Marko Marin prepares both goals.

Thanks to Guido Burgstaller and Mark Uth, Schalke 04 continued their ascent in the Champions League and took a giant step towards the last sixteen. The Royal Blues beat Galatasaray Istanbul 2-0 (1-0) on Matchday 4 and remain undefeated in the Queen clbad.

Austria's Burgstaller brought coach Domenico Tedesco to 54,740 spectators in the fourth minute after a serious mistake by goalkeeper Fernando Muslera. The industrious national player Uth rewarded senior Schalke with his second goal of the season for the minors (57) on presentation of Burgstaller and made perfect the third victory in seven days.

With eight points, Schalke of Group D has good prospects for the second round. A win in the penultimate group match of FC Porto, Portugal champion, Nov. 28, would mean entry into the knockout stages.

The guest goalkeeper, Muslera, completely lost focus early on in the game: during a trip to the edge of the box, he again let out the ball already caught. Burgstaller responded quickly and scored the ball sharply in the orphaned goal.

Tedesco had changed his starting line to two places compared to 3: 1 in the Bundesliga against Hannover 96 on Saturday and proved with a lucky touch the inclusion of Rudy and especially Burgstaller. The captain and goalkeeper Ralf Fährmann was back in the team for the first time since five competitive games after being recovered from groin problems, but took his place on the bench.

As Galatasaray seemed shocked after the start of Schalke's leadership, his replacement, Alexander Nübel, was no longer needed after 17 minutes. A dangerous counter-attack by the Turks defused the national under-21 goalkeeper in his own sixteenth. Eleven minutes later, Garry Rodrigues narrowly missed the target, otherwise Galatasaray often played his sloppy counter-attack.

The Schalke had the widest game in a fast game, but these are the best chances. After 21 minutes, Amine Harit scored the 2-0 goal, but the Moroccan hit the ball eight meters from the door. Even Rudy with a distance post (38th) and soon after Burgstaller (39th) missed the second goal, which would have been deserved at that time.

Even after the break, the match kept its pace intense but fair. The Turks were determined from the cabin, but Schalke held on and captured Galatasaray in the 57th minute: Burgstaller served Uth on the right, from eleven yards. As a result, the resistance of the guests was finally broken.

Paris with lapels in Naples

Thomas Tuchel and Paris Saint-Germain, however, missed the expected victory. The French football champion had to settle for 1-1 against SSC Napoli on Tuesday and is third in Group C with five points behind SSC Napoli under the orders of former Bayern coach Carlo Ancelotti and the Liverpool leader with coach Jürgen. Klopp (6 points). In Naples, Juan Bernat (45 years + 2), a former Bayern professional, gave PSG the advantage shortly before half-time. But Lorenzo Insigne has managed a penalty equalizer (63.). After the 2: 2 of the first round, Naples wins the direct comparison, which would decide in case of equality of progress.

Barcelona in the last sixteen

Even without Lionel Messi, FC FC start the knockout stages of the Champions League. The Argentinian belonged for the first time to the fracture of his forearm in the Barca team. He entered the difficult match in Milan but was not used. The Brazilian Malcolm, who for the first time placed the team around his national teammate Marc-André ter Stegen in the lead (82.), escaped before Mauro Icardi (87) equalized. With ten points, Barca is ahead of Inter (7) and can not be replaced by the first two places. Third place is Tottenham Hotspur (4) after a 2-1 draw (1-0) against PSV Eindhoven (1).

Liverpool loses in Belgrade, Monaco drops

Team manager Jürgen Klopp suffered an unexpected defeat with Liverpool FC in the Parisian group. The finalist of last season lost 0-2 (0-2) against Red Star Belgrade and faces a very tight Group C match.

Striker Milan Pavkov led Belgrade to 51,318 spectators at the start of each match, after preliminary work by former international Marko Marin (22/29) and Marakana stadium. "We are from Liverpool, we are not impressed by the atmosphere," Klopp said before the match. On the field, Liverpool was disappointed by the 4-0 first leg win, but over long distances.

With six points, the Englishman remains for the moment leader, but can be doubled in the evening by SSC Naples (5) or Paris Saint-Germain (4). Red Star (4) can also hope for its first win in the queen clbad since 1992. Xherdan Shaqiri did not visit Serbia for political reasons. Due to tensions between Serbia and Kosovo, the Swiss footballer with Kosovar roots in Belgrade has reportedly threatened hostile reception.

In the meantime, AS Monaco is at the heart of the crisis with new coach Thierry Henry. The penultimate French Ligue 1 lost to FC Brugge 0: 4 (0: 3) and is part of Group A with Borussia Dortmund with just one point in the final standings. For Bruges (four points), it was the first victory.

Hans Vanaken shot a left-foot shot (12 ') and a handball (17') initially sent a brace, while the Brazilian Wesley (24 ') quickly added a 3- win 0. The final was Captain Ruud Vormer (85.). Monegasques therefore continue to wait for the first victory under Henry.
