When Sebastian Vettel danced on the podium, he asked himself the question: when should it work with the 5th world title, if not now?
SEBASTIAN VETTEL: When the Heppenheimer danced on the podium at Silverstone, Maybe he even asked himself this question: When should he run with his fifth world title, if not this year? If a Ferrari driver also wins in England, why win at the end of the year? Unlike last season, the Scuderia has always been a response to the tasks entrusted to it by Mercedes. After the Grand Prix in Austria, it seemed that the Silver Arrows with the aerodynamic upgrade and the new engine ready to finally get away – and a week later, Ferrari on the "Mercedes track" Silverstone gives the pace. Vettel himself was very strong Sunday, taking first place twice by himself: starting a dazzling start against Hamilton, after refueling then with a very strong maneuver against Valtteri Bottas. Vettel is in the form WM.
MERCEDES: Blame was probably the heat of battle. Both Lewis Hamilton and Toto Wolff hinted after the race that Ferrari deliberately caused accidents to influence the title fight. This, especially with a closer look at the incidents in France and England, lacks basic and is a bad style. The more time pbaded after the finish line, the more the comments of the Mercedes representatives were relaxed. And the rage is fundamentally understandable: in three Ferrari races has now caused two accidents – and between the two was the Mercedes debacle with the double failure in Austria. The nerves may have been stretched.
LEWIS HAMILTON: For the world champion, he had to have the impression that someone was teasing his girlfriend. And let him still watch. In front of Hamilton's eyes, Sebastian Vettel gave Silverstone a big, sincere kiss. The trophy, which has always been engraved with the name of English since 2014. It was painful. In fact, Hamilton's fifth home win would have been deserved, since he was also the fastest man on "his" track this weekend. This helped at least to advance to second place after the early collision. Maybe Hamilton will be able to return the favor within two weeks – so Vettel's home game will be in Hockenheim. There is also a beautiful cup.
SILVERSTONE: The last few days have been good for Formula 1. Already in Spielberg, creators could expect more than 180,000 spectators in the stands – at Silverstone they could have had the evaluation look a second time. 340,000 fans flocked from Thursday to Sunday, 140,000 alone saw the race. It was still a proof of the outstanding position of "Home Of British Motor Racing". And Formula 1 owners should now realize how important it is to keep this track in the calendar. Negotiations for an extension of the final contract of 2019 are difficult.
THE RAYS OF THE WEEKEND: "It's an interesting tactic." (Lewis Hamilton on the accident caused by Ferrari driver Kimi Raikkonen, the Mercedes at the end of the Feldes fought back)
