It's funny, says our author Schuhmann. Epic has promised for a year and a half that Fortnite Rette would make the world free in 2018. Now they are taking the promise and hardly anyone is bothering him.
That was the promise of release: By the summer of 2017, it was clear that Fortnite would "save the world" for free in 2018.
That was Fortnite's big promise: now the game was still ahead and would cost something. By 2018, it would be officially released, then free.

The subject was still heavily criticized in July 2017: Epic released a real game of "Free2Play" and puts it in stores, some players still consider a break with good customs.
Many players were expecting more with a purchase because they thought the game could be free at any time.
It's happened now: Until a few days ago, it was still thought that Fortnite would be free by December 2018, at the beginning of season 7.
But that turned out differently.
Without much excuses or to take this particularly important, Epic has returned to its promise. There is still much to be done, do not feel ready for launch in 2018 and do not plan to release the game as announced in time.
They proposed plans for what to do afterwards, promised to publish big blogs and put the lid on it without giving a specific new date for the launch.
That's the surprising thing about it: I was surprised at how good it was for everyone. The video in which the change was announced has more than 32,000 positive votes, with only 4,000 negative votes.
At Reddit, too, it seems that postponing the launch is generally considered the right decision. The game is simply not ready for launch. Everyone has seen that coming.
That's why the Epic decision is right: In fact, Epic had to do this because Fortnite saved the world in 2018.
The game still has huge gaps in the story. And the speed of development is slow.
There are hardly any new features, in the patches only the elements of the event shop are added. While "Fortnite Battle Royale" receives huge events, updates and news, "Save the World" is preparing for its release at a fast pace.
Epic spent the world with Rette most of the time:
- to defuse Pay2Win Progress system, which probably comes from mobile games of the Tencent investor and that the game of the summer of 2017 has broken his neck
- Bring innumerable skins and trifles to Fortnite – you've turned dozens of Battle Royale skins into your own heroes for the store
- then you put a lot of time in the second modes, in Horde and other modes
- Epic also offers all kinds of seasonal events – from Easter Bunny to Horror Castle for Halloween
- admitted, an important feature is new, the Perk-Verschwurbler put the variety into play
- Epic has a lot to do with the bugs and exploits of Fortnite: Save the World from Fighting
But that's missing:
- but little has happened in the countryside. Only the first third of the history of the 3rd zone has already been restored by Epic. The remaining 66% of the Bru valley and the entire campaign for the 4th zone are still missing. In November, this should continue here.
- and now, Epic has noticed that you want to rebuild the entire game. Instead of having a lobby in which a lot of things happen, Epic wants to turn the action into a real game. Of course it takes.
What do I care about my stupid gossip of yesterday?
That annoys me: Fortnite "Save the World" tells me that Epic did not seem to be bound by the promise to publish the game for free in 2018.
Because to achieve this, it would have been necessary to give a boost to "Save the World" for a year and a half. But apparently, this has never really been the subject of debate – quite understandable for economic reasons.
Instead, "Save the World" was left on the bottom and the players were offered a game at the end of 2018 that everyone knew was not yet ready for release.
As a result, players are now applauding a decision that only materialized because Epic has behaved badly for a year and a half.
Here is how Epic could have behaved correctly: So Epic should have said right away the success of Battle Royale in January 2018: "Listen, the release of Save the World in 2018, we do not plan anymore, we have different priorities now."
Players would have understood and would have considered saving the world for free or not.
The gap now to announce so late in the year, although nothing has changed in the situation for a year, I find boring.
Save the world – the daughter-in-law
The state of Rette the world 2018: As a Fortnite: When the world nearly failed in the summer of 2017, Epic launched "Fortune in One" to launch "Fortnite Battle Royale" in a few months and make it a huge success.
This is considerable and deserves respect. A fraction of this energy in "Save the World" and the game would be much better by the end of 2018.
For the moment, Fortnite Save the World remains a kind of unloved son-in-law alongside the funky beauty of the Fortnite: Battle Royale schoolyard. Even your own parents do not seem to like it as it should be. I think it's a pity.
Saving the world surely does not have as many fans as Fortnite Battle Royale. But he has fans and they deserve better.
This is how Fortnite continues to save the world:
