After a six-week beta test, Apple released iOS 12.1 yesterday in the final version, which activates including the dual-SIM feature for the new generation of iPhone and introduces the Facetime group. Another innovation concerns the already well-known performance management, which was previously used in older devices, such as the iPhone 6 or the iPhone 6. With iOS 12.1, this feature now applies to iPhone 8 and the iPhone X.
iOS 12.1 slows iPhone X and iPhone 8 (if necessary)
The management of IOS performance was a sensation a few months ago. Apple implemented a feature in iOS 10.2.1 that limited CPU performance on older devices with a compromised battery in case of problems. This should prevent the unit from unexpectedly shutting down at low temperatures or high loads.
The dissatisfaction was great and Apple responded by exchanging a battery and offering a new feature for iOS 11.3. From now on, users could disable the limitation feature on affected devices as needed. Until now, the power management of iPhone 6, iPhone 6 Plus, iPhone 6s, iPhone 6s Plus, iPhone SE, iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus. With iOS 12.1, the iPhone 8, the iPhone 8 Plus and the iPhone X are now part of the devices on which the processor performance could be reduced. So, Apple writes on a special page on the subject:
"From iOS 12.1, this feature will also be available on the iPhone 8, the iPhone 8 Plus and the iPhone X, but with more advanced hardware and software design, the impact performance management may be less noticeable. "
Of course, the function can always be deactivated if necessary. All settings and information about the battery status can be found in the iOS settings under "Battery". The update to iOS 12.1 is available via the software update in the download and installation settings.
