K iel (dpa) – The second Holstein Kiel football division signed with Jae-Song Lee, the South Korean participant at the World Cup. This was announced by the club on Friday. The 25-year-old playmaker was last active at Jeonbuk Hyundai Motors FC and signed a three-year contract. The transfer fee for the midfield should be about 1.5 million euros. Lee would be the record transfer of Kiel, where he should replace playmaker Dominick Drexler (for 1 FC Cologne). Lee could make his debut for the North Germans already in the test match against SD Eibar on Saturday.

"Of course, this transfer is a great story for KSV Holstein, for the club, but also for the city of Kiel and the whole region," said club president Steffen Schneekloth. The newcomer played in the World Cup in Russia every three group matches for the South Korean selection. Still in the final 2-0 win against Germany, who thus failed for the first time in a World Cup preliminary round, he was in the starting lineup. South Korea also came out after the preliminary round.
