Lenovo unveiled the first Google Assistant speaker with a screen. The competitor of the Amazon Echo Show is initially in the US with an 8-inch screen for $ 200 or with a 10-inch screen for $ 250.

The Lenovo Smart Display gives access to Google Service such as YouTube, Google Maps, Google Calendar and Google Photos and the Duo chat service. Google introduced the Smart Display for Lenovo on its blog. Spotify, Google podcasts and many other services are also supported. The Google Assistant is used for voice control and displays, for example, recipes that explain cook preparation step by step.

With a 10-watt speaker

With the Google Duo of Skype, users can participate and the Google Assistant also allows you to control your own smart home. Both models of the Smart Display offer a 10-watt speaker, which should provide clear and loud sound. Soon, other smart display devices with the Google Assistant from JBL and LG will arrive on the market.

The initial tests draw a positive conclusion

The first reviews were published at launch. The Verge awards 8.5 out of 10 and praises the beautiful hardware, the integration of Google's ecosystem and software. The sound quality should be rather average. TechCrunch also draws a positive conclusion. The smart display looks good and at least sounds better than the Google Home. There is currently no information on a possible release in Germany.
