Xbox manager Larry Hryb, aka Major Nelson, caused a lot of confusion and early anticipation today with a new blog post: Hryb had enthusiastically announced "new hardware" for Gamescom, but later corrected its wording.
Too Looking Forward to: Who was eagerly waiting for new releases on the already-happy Major Nelson Gamescom 2018 blog, what Microsoft is probably bringing in, should now be disappointed. First, it was announced that Microsoft will bring "new Xbox hardware and accessories" to Gamescom this year. This naturally heated the spirits. According to the positive and enthusiastic comments of the fans about the contribution – that Microsoft also mentioned about the new material, but it was too unusual.
the announcement was reformulated
This ad was also very different, not like a teaser for a revised Xbox, as you might think. As a result, Xbox Manager has revised its instructions again (via Neowin). "This message has been changed to clarify the news on the hardware", you can now read it in the announcement of Gamescom.
The blog says that it is now specified, Microsoft will introduce some new bundles, matching accessories and the next, new game titles. What remains open is the presentation of the new expected Xbox Elite Controller, which, according to rumor, is now equipped with a USB-C port.
Inside Xbox on August 21
Who wants to be present at the announcement does not have to Gamescom. Microsoft will use the format "Inside Xbox" to broadcast the live event on August 21, from 19:30, German time. The show will be featured on xbox.com, Mixer, Twitch, YouTube, Facebook and Twitter. We will then report the event and present the news.
Gamescom 2018 will take place from August 21st to 25th in Cologne and, from August 22nd, it will be open to the public.
