Police operation in Kreuzberg under SO36: arrests after celebration of Celtic-Glasgow supporters

On Thursday night, fans of the Scottish club Celtic Glasgow of the Berlin club SO36 clashed with another group of four. Police said the two groups had also thrown chairs, benches and bottles. After the altercation, the fans left the restaurant in direction of Oranienplatz and the group of four went to the metro station Görlitzer Bahnhof.

The alert police arrested a total of 20 men in the immediate vicinity. Witnesses identified eight of them, men aged 17 to 32, as participants. The decision against the eight is ongoing because of a serious breach of peace. Of the four-person group, only two men aged 21 and 45 were found.

Hundreds of spectators were in the Oranienstraße street club on Wednesday night – alcohol played an important role, police said Thursday morning. Celtic Glasgow will join the Europa League match at RB Leipzig on Thursday night. Wednesday night was in the SO36 according to information on its website under the motto "Berlin Calling – No to RB".
