AVM publishes FritzOS 7 for Fritz repeaters and PLC devices. The update brings many improvements, especially the mesh functions are optimized.
In the summer, AVM has released a very extensive firmware update for Fritz boxes with FritzOS 7, which has brought many innovations. Now, the Berlin manufacturer is also updating the new repeaters and CPL devices to the new operating system, which mainly brings improvements to the mesh functions.
Among other things, after the update, dual-band devices support WLAN 11v and 11k standards when driving the tape (slow-motion guidance). This means, for example, that smartphones can switch faster between 2.4 and 5 GHz frequencies. The first band can cross particularly good distances, but is prone to breakdowns and often overloaded. The 5 GHz band is more stable and has advantages, with higher data rates.
Automatic updates
The Repeater and Powerline devices now support the Fritzbox WLAN settings and also allow for simplified use of guest access as a public or private access point after the update. If the automatic update feature is enabled in the router, the accessory is also updated automatically and AVM has improved the overall view of the position and performance of all the meshed components of the home network . After all, CPL adapters are now more efficient. With low demand, they dynamically switch to the SISO process (Single Input, Single Output).
FritzOS 7 is available for the 1750E, 1160, DVB-C, 450E and 310 repeaters as well as for the 1260E and 1240E CPLs. To install the new firmware, you go into the user interface of the Fritzbox in the menu home network at mesh respectively Home Network Overview and click on the devices there Run the updateYou can also call the user interface of the repeater or CPL device by clicking on its name in the mesh overview. Then click on System Selection Update.
