The collapsible smartphone from Samsung is probably not ready for production for a long time. Apparently, the manufacturer has still not decided on the final design. Thus, the Galaxy F could be finally close – and not a hybrid smartphone tablet.
Although Samsung is expected to show the collapsible smartphone in November as part of the SDC (Samsung Developer Conference) 2018, work on the Galaxy F is far from over, reports Bloomberg. Discussions are underway to determine if the device with the code name "Winner" can be folded horizontally or vertically. A model of users can thus run from a smartphone to a small tablet. The second variant is likely to look like an extra long Galaxy Note, which bends – it could be very narrow.
Only pictures on the event in November?
Currently, designers should prefer the foldable version horizontally – because it is easier to hold in the hand. However, that does not mean that Samsung has this device on the SDC 2018 in the luggage. Due to ongoing development, it is probably more likely that the manufacturer only shows concept pictures and some event features.
Although the Galaxy S10 supposedly receives a fingerprint sensor on the screen, the foldable smartphone should not receive one. Apparently, it is not yet possible to use this technology in a foldable device. Due to the large display area, the Galaxy F should also weigh a little less than 200 grams.
In order to further reduce weight, a slightly smaller battery must be present in the device, although a larger screen requires more power. In commerce, the collapsible smartphone should arrive at the earliest in the second quarter of 2019. This will probably take until we know all the details.
