Sony and Netflix want to bring studio quality to the show

Sony and Netflix have developed an image mode in which the new Bravia TVs show movies exactly as the director and the creators imagined.

In the "Netflix Calibrated" mode developed by Sony engineers and Netflix colorists, current Bravia TV models are designed to display Netflix movies and series exactly as intended by the director and the creative ones. His forces can play TV screens especially with visually complex productions such as "Lost in Space" with extraterrestrial landscapes, says Scott Mirer, vice president, Device Partner Ecosystem at Netflix.

However, only Netflix subscribers will be able to enjoy the latest high-end televisions from Sony's all-new AF9 OLED and ZF9 LCD Master Series. The corresponding OLED TVs are available in 55 and 65 inches diagonally (55AF9 and 65AF9), LCD TVs in 65 and 76 inches (65ZF9 and 75ZF9); they are the only models with the calibrated Netflix default image mode.

The TVs are powered by the new X1 Ultimate processor, which badyzes all the image elements and optimizes the detailed display based on these data. HDR optimization has also been improved according to Sony; With this, high-contrast HDR images should receive even more depth and image structure. In addition, Master Series TVs can be calibrated semi-automatically using the Calman software from Protrait Display Inc. – other comparable calibrations are already available from other major TV manufacturers. . Regarding the support of Dolby Vision, Sony remains tuned. It has been re-delivered in previous OLED TVs via the firmware update.

According to Sony, LCD TVs have improved viewing angles and minimized motion blur – without the brightness of the screen getting in the way. How does it work technically, says Sony?

OLED TVs use Acoustic Surface Audio, so the sound of Sony's previous OLED series directly from the display surface. The technology introduced by Sony two years ago has also been improved; it now calls Acoustic Surface Audio + and uses a third actuator in the center of the TV; With the additional separate channel for the two subwoofers radiating on the sides, a 3.2 sound system is now available. If you already have a sound system, you can integrate the AF9 TV into a special mode ("Center Speaker") as a center speaker in the home theater system.

For the four devices, Sony uses Android TV as the operating system. You can do a voice search and connect via Chromecast with your smartphone or tablet. Sony does not yet say what the devices are costing today in New York and when they are on sale.
