More and more applications are available in the form of lighter versions, which do not offer all the features of the original application. These variants are mainly designed for low power devices. Now the Spotify streaming service is testing such an app.
While the "normal" Spotify application for Android takes about 100 megabytes of space, the Lite version only contains about 15 megabytes. Thus, the lighter application of the music provider 85 percent less than the internal memory of the smartphone owner needs. Basically, the program contains of course fewer functions. For example, there is no way to play songs at the "Extreme" quality level. In addition, the Spotify Connect feature has not been implemented at all.
Although Spotify Lite has a page to monitor its own use of data, songs can not be downloaded or streamed without an Internet connection. It remains to be seen whether this feature will be replenished with an upcoming update.
Premium users have no advantage
As a Premium Nuter, you must continue to use the standard version of Spotify. With the Lite version, all content can only be played in random mode. The application does not differentiate if you have a subscription or a free account.
The application is available on the official Google Play Store. However, you should be aware that Spotify Lite is not compatible with most devices and therefore can not be installed. Nevertheless, the application can be installed via an APK file, which has since been downloaded to other platforms.
