The disassembly of the iPhone XR reveals significant changes compared to previous models

[ad_1]

The first iPhone XR arrived at its owners and once again, iFixit repair specialists were about to dismantle the new iPhone. Real surprises have not been discovered, with the exception of a real innovation for the SIM card module.

In addition, iFixit's disbadembly action has, in addition to the hardware components actually used, the biggest difference in structure between the iPhone XS and the found iPhone XR. That's the design of the battery. Already on the iPhone X, Apple was using an L-shaped layout that winds through the smartphone, the iPhone XS and the iPhone XS Max being identical. The iPhone XR, however, once again has a more clbadic rectangular battery cell.

Another big difference between the previous devices is in the SIM card module. The XR now has a modular SIM card reader that can be easily exchanged. This is the first time on an iPhone, emphasizes iFixit. This way, you can not only quickly replace a faulty SIM card reader, but also reduce the cost of replacement, because previously the entire logic board had to be replaced.

Good repairability, but it would be even better

Otherwise, iFixit has not really made any notable changes from previous models.

Incidentally, this also applies to the repairability of the new iPhone XR. iFixit now awards six points out of ten, which represents a very good value for the current smartphones. However, Apple has not improved its point repair capabilities: six points represent the same score as that already achieved by the iPhone X, the iPhone 8 or even the iPhone XS.

Incidentally, the easy access to the battery and the replacement of the screen were considered particularly interesting. Why Apple rose then, but the prices for the repair of the screen?
