According to the latest information, Apple will launch a first iPhone with support for 5G in 2020.
Apple is expected to release the first iPhones compatible with 5G technology in 2020. At least, FastCompany claims it by referring to an insider source. Intel 8161-5G modem chips should be used in new devices.
In advance, Intel had already made the 8160 modem chip available for the first tests with the iPhone 5G, but Apple's expectations were not fully met. The fact that the 5G relies mainly on a millimeter signal during transmission probably makes the processors particularly demanding.
The resulting heat was felt in previous tests outside the case of the smartphone prototype. In addition, the life of the battery can be affected by high levels of thermal energy inside the unit.
However, the source of FastCompany also claims that Qualcomm has problems with the heat of the 5G chips, which is why Apple claims to continue its partnership with Intel. Apple itself would not comment on FastCompany.
