Nearly 15 years ago, this young Australian was considered one of the great hopes of tennis. So a lot of things went wrong. Now, the ex-talent has died at 34 years old.

Sydney – Just 34 years old, a former international tennis player has pbaded away: Todd Reid won the Wimbledon Junior title at age 17 in 2002 and two years later at the Australian Open against Roger Federer on the ground.

Reid died this week, as reported by the Sydney Morning Herald online. According to the report, the exact circumstances of his death are still unclear – but there are apparently no "suspicious circumstances", it was said.

Tragic accident of a young man: it's success – then the wounds

Reid's story seems tragic: even as a teenager, he was considered a great tennis talent. Until the age of 14, Reid should have earned the equivalent of just under 250,000 euros of sponsorship. The boy learned at Nick Bollettieri's tennis school – as before Andre Agbadi, Tommy Haas, Monica Seles and Anna Kurnikowa; The latter, meanwhile, is an advertising icon, mother and wife alongside the pop star Enrique Iglesias.

In 2004, the young Australian seemed to be able to quickly redeem his progress as a young player: a Davis Cup first game for Australia, the third round of the Australian Open Grand Slam against Federer and – after the 20th anniversary – at least World rankings have been registered.

Then, however, followed a series of illnesses and injuries. In 2005, Reid completed his full-time professional career for the first time. From now on, only individual performances in professional tennis are available for talent. From the audience, Reid was standing away from the television.

On his Instagram account, however, Reid kept in touch with his fans – there is little left of the young man nervous about Reid's short career. In his last video message, the 34-year-old presented his followers with a fresh beard in the beard of a barber. However, only 73 subscribers were registered.
