"The summer is starting now," announces Justin Timberlake at the top of his new single, "SoulMate", and even he must know that this is not true
(At the latest, Was started on Friday, when the Drake song "Summer Games" – a much better summer jam – came out.)
But you can understand why Timberlake would make us think of hot weather, since that means we are less likely to think of "Man of the Woods," the winter flannel-vibes missed, he dropped to a resounding noise in February.
Also: The summer is traditionally a moment of victory for Timberlake, who dominated the season two years ago with the unmistakable "Can not Stop Feeling!" From, "Trolls." [19659002] Alas, "SoulMate" – a vaguely tropical exhortation for "let me lift your body in mine" (weird phrasing!) – is not quite at work as Timberlake is fixed right here.
It's melodic without being especially catchy, rhyt hmic but unlikely to move anyone. (Speaking of Drake, the song was produced by Nineteen85, who also did the rapper's sensual "Hotline Bling" and "Hold On We Going Home.")
Do these halfway charms mean "SoulMate"? ? warning, is better than all about the lead "Man of the Woods"?
Duh. But also a third degree sunburn
