Angry youths besiege Kumasi's central mosque against armed robbers

Angry youths from Kumasi besiege Kumasi's central mosque seek justice from the 7 alleged thieves who were shot dead by police on Tuesday.

Young people who blocked the main road leading to the Central Mosque on Thursday, July 19, were seen singing war songs and burning tires in the middle of the road, causing a lot of tension.

An attack of seven of the eight alleged thieves on July 11 reportedly caused death of a police officer from the SWAT unit. The deceased officer, Lance Corporal Daniel Teiku, was on duty with his colleague, Lance Corporal Eric Nsiah, when eight masked men attacked the vehicle that they were traveling to Ayirebikrom near Manso Nkwanta on July 11th.

The police intelligence officer then went to Dome-Beposo, a village near Manso Nkwanta, and recovered four AK 47 badault rifles, including those seized from police officers.

The friends and families of the deceased have challenged

Muntaka Mubarak, a member of the constituency, has since called on Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia, the Minister of National Security, the Minister of the Interior and the Attorney General to establish an independent committee to investigate the case and the reality of what led to the shootings of young men to bring justice to them and their families
