The surgical and medical emergency unit of the Korle-Bu University Hospital (KBTH) was strengthened after the hospital received new beds for free space for admissions.

However, Korle-Bu began to admit new emergency cases after the hospital received new beds to complete the existing few.

Speaking to media on Thursday, the hospital's public relations officer, Mustapha Salifu, said the new beds had already been delivered to the facility.

"We took delivery of the beds yesterday for the new emergency unit, we get others, others are donations," he said.

He said the new beds have improved the situation and freed up space for the admission of new emergency cases.

He adds, however, that Korle-Bu beds are still not enough to accommodate the number of patients visiting the facility daily.

"The situation is better and the numbers we see have dropped considerably but we are not out of the wood yet," added Salifu
