The planned performance of Mariah Carey at the Livewire Festival in England will no longer take place after the cancellation of the event.

Superstar fans were disappointed by the news that the Blackpool festival was abandoned for this year.

In a statement posted on the Facebook page of the Livewire Festival, a representative explains why the concert, scheduled for August 24, was fired.

"The Blackpool Livewire Festival, which was to take place during the August bank holiday weekend, will be postponed until 2019," reads the post. A spokesperson for Livewire confirmed that the decision was made because of the poor health of the key staff of the local promoter, Livewire Events Ltd, based in Manchester.

"Discussions are under way with some artist representatives to determine their participation in Livewire 2019."

Ticket holders have been advised that they can request a refund from the point of purchase.

Matt Goss and Boyz II Men were also expected to occur.
