Her Excellency Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo appointed, in consultation with the State Council, four new judges to the Supreme Court.

The four are: Judge Samuel K. Marful-Sau (Judge of Appeal), Judge Agnes MA Dordzie (Judge of Appeal), Professor Nii Ashie Kotey (former Dean of the Faculty of Law of the University of Ghana at Legon) and Nene AO ​​Amegatcher (Private Lawyer and Past President of the Ghana Bar Association) .

Currently, there are 12 Supreme Court justices.

In accordance with section 144 (2) of the Constitution, the Judicial Council has sent me its opinion on the appointment of the following persons to the Supreme Court:

1. Judge Samuel K. Marful-Ssu, Judge of Appeal

2. Judge Agnes M.A Dordzie, Judge of Appeal

3. Teacher. Nii Ashie Kotey, former dean of the Faculty of Law of the University of Ghana at Legon

4. Nene AO ​​Amegatcher, private lawyer and former president of the Ghana Bar Association

Upon receipt of the opinion of the Judicial Council and in accordance with my duty under Article 144 (2), I consulted the State Council by submitting the names and curricula vitae of candidates for appointment to the Supreme Court. the State Council informed my office that the consultation process for the nomination of candidates for the office of judge at the Supreme Court has now been completed.

I am, therefore, in accordance with section 144 (2), obtaining the approval of Parliament. for the nomination of candidates as judges of the Supreme Court. their curricula vitae are attached hereto.

Mr. President, I sincerely hope that the approval of candidates will be done quickly, to enable them to badume their duties as soon as possible.
