The chief accountant of EC can not use the taxpayer's money for extortion

[ad_1]

Perhaps a more law-abiding and socially responsible Ghanaian citizen should inform Mr. Kwaku Agyei-Larbi and his lawyers that it is a criminal offense of utmost importance that anyone who tries to knowingly misappropriate the taxpayer's money as a bait to get EOCO – the Bureau of Economic and Organized Crimes – to get Mr. Agyei-Larbi returned to his former position as Chief Accountant of the Electoral Commission (EC), as a result the long-awaited and legitimate dismissal of the three most senior officials of the EC, namely Ms. Charlotte Osei, Mr. Amadu Sulley and Ms. Georgina Opoku-Amankwaa, in their respective capacity as EC President, in the case of Ms. Osei, and deputy commissioners of the EC, in the cases of Mr. Sulley and Ms. Amankwaa (See "Chief Accountant of EC: I will release GH2 432,000 if you reinstate me" MyJoyOnline.com / Modernghana .com 7/6/18).

It can be recalled that Mr. Agyei-Larbi was among the E C leaders whose administrative incompetence and malfeasance or fiscal impropriety would have resulted in the charge and the opening of an investigation by the Chief Justice, Mrs. Sophia AB Akuffo. Mr. Agyei-Larbi has not been officially dismissed or recalled or reinstated in his former employment by EOCO agents, or by the competent authority with the "say-so". And so what he really needs to do is ask his lawyers, if they are worth their nominal salt weight, to fight for the revocation of his seemingly indefinite suspension with retroactive wage arrears and benefits. of employment, baduming that he had, in fact, been put to sleep or suspended without pay. He says he is ready to release a sum of money greater than 500 000 GHG, but only on the condition that he is reinstated in his former position as Chief Accountant of the EC.

Such a conditional application is a criminal offense that amounts to extortion because the money or money in question belongs to the Ghanaian taxpayer, which is why Mr. Agyei-Larbi was invited by his bosses of the EC at the time to take custody of the same thing until asked for release. In other words, holding the money or money mentioned above, until requested, was part of his job description. His impetuous and rude conditional application for reinstatement in return for the EC Provident Fund return, allegedly missing by some EC complainants, including part of the reasons why the first three Commission officials were relieved of their functions, is shockingly unacceptable. The plaintiff claims to have been laundered by EOCO, so why did he decide to take the road to the home guide? And are his lawyers real lawyers or paper lawyers?

To be certain, using the return of the EC Welfare Fund's funds as an exchange coin to be returned to his former position could very well be a legitimate ground for immediate dismissal. On the contrary, what Mr. Agyei-Larbi should have done, if he really wanted his professional fortune, should have been, responsibly and wisely, asked the authorities of EOCO or the police to accompany him to his old office to allow him to quickly and properly recover money back from people to the place where he belongs. And then he could have effectively used the professional integrity that such "good behavior" would have allowed him to fight for his reinstatement. You see, the two issues of returning the Ghanaian taxpayer's money to its legitimate owner and seeking reinstatement in his former position are not mutually inclusive.

Alas, in the blatant absence of taking these very basic and sensible steps as a legitimate means of redeeming oneself, Mr. Agyei-Larbi has, in fact, turned out to be either grossly incompetent professionally or at best, public servant or servant with a selfish and egotistical agenda that can not be entrusted to the affairs of
