pedestrians, killing one young woman and wounding six others

Ashaiman Municipal Assembly (ASHMA) to make roads safe for pedestrians and
motorists
Eyewitnesses have reported that the KIA truck
was seen approaching the scene around 9:30 am with obvious signs of brake
failed and, with a faulty horn, the driver could not report to anyone as he
tried to stop the car, thus crushing the people.
The Municipal General Manager (MCE) of
Ashaiman, Mr. Albert Boakye Okyere, who accompanied the Commanding Officer
Tema General Hospital, said: "It is unfortunate, because human life is a great
treasure and from elsewhere when people are suffering from such injuries and death it is
just bad. "
He observed the need for the streets to be
open for vehicle operations rather than individuals besieging the streets
saying, "This is just a lesson for all of us to leave the streets and keep our
self, because life is precious. "
Wondering why some residents
Mr. Okyere said, "They can not complain about the inadequacy
space for the market because right now there is a big new market
developed around Adjei Kojo. Apart from that, Adjei Kojo's market has
been prepared enough for others to occupy before we finish the new market, so I
do not see why they come together in the streets. But when such things
we are all in mourning with the family and we are learning from it.
He advised residents of Ashaiman to adhere to
the fact that they could not sit in the streets and trade by adding, "We do not say
so because we want to stop people from doing business, we say that because we
want people to protect themselves against such unjustified incidents. "
