Point guard Grant Riller was signed by the Philadelphia 76ers to a two-way contract, according to an announcement made today by Daryl Morey, president of the team’s basketball operations. On November 30, 2020, the keeper signed a two-way contract with the Charlotte hornets. During the 2020-21 season, Riller spent time playing for Charlotte and the Greensboro Swarm, the organization’s G League affiliate. Greensboro finished 5-10 (0.333) in their 2020-21 season.
The 24-year-old averaged 2.6 points in seven games for the Hornets last season. In 11 games played with the Swarm, Riller averaged 13.1 points, 1.7 rebounds and 3.5 assists per game. While he averaged 25.7 minutes, he shot 49 percent from the ground and 46.2 percent from behind the arc. His three-point shooting percentage of 46.2 ranked second in the G League.

Cougars Stats and NBA G League Rule
On February 26, 2021, in the team’s 126-117 loss to the 905 Raptors, he ended his performance with a season-high 28 points, in addition to four assists and three steals. During his college days at the College of Charleston, the guard was selected to the 2018-2020 All-CAA First Team. He was also awarded the CAA Tournament MVP in 2018. During his college seasons 2018-19 and 2019-2020, Riller averaged 21.9 points per game for the Cougars.
In a 99-95 loss to Hofstra Pride, he scored a career-high 43 points, complimenting his four rebounds and six assists. Additionally, in the second round, Riller was selected 56th overall by the Hornets in the 2020 NBA Draft. Under league rules, all 30 NBA teams are allowed a maximum of two affected players under two-way contracts. Additionally, if a player decides to play for the Delaware Blue Coats, the 76ers G League affiliate, they cannot be active for more than 50 NBA games.
