Halo developers still want Nintendo to add Master Chief to Smash Ultimate as a bonus fighter

With the official Smash Ultimate DLC fighter now complete, Halo rules out the possibility of Master Chief joining the roster as a secret bonus character.

Kingdom Hearts’ Sora has been revealed as the final DLC character in Smash Ultimate’s Fighters Pass Volume 2, much to the delight of fans around the world. However, there has been a lot of talk about the arrival of a secret bonus fighter in the future.

One of the candidates many players and fans had in mind was Halo’s Master Chief. Despite being the face of the Xbox, the chances of the Spartan seemed to increase when Microsoft let Minecraft’s Banjo and Steve join Nintendo’s fighting game show.

Even the Xbox itself seemed poised for Chief to “end the fight,” with official Microsoft-owned social media accounts suggesting that Master Chief could possibly be added.

In the hours leading up to Sora’s reveal, Halo Community Manager John Junyszek tweeted an image of an invite to Smash asking players, “The last Smash Bros. fighter is a character from the last game you got. have played.

Junyszek responded to the tweet by saying “Maybe someday” and added a prayer emoji. He went on to add: “aka is not happening, but would be sick.”

While he didn’t categorically say that the last game he played was Halo, given his work, it’s safe to assume that was the case.

Some fans have wondered if he would even be aware that Master Chief is joining Smash Ultimate if this happens. However, according to Junyszek, he would be absolutely in the know.

With the Switch Pro still prevalent, it’s unlikely we’ll see a new Smash game until the next Nintendo console is released.

However, Smash is such a big franchise that it’s possible Nintendo will continue it without it. The problem then becomes: how to surpass the incredible roster of Smash Ultimate?

One way could be to include Master Chief and with the way the Xbox developers seem so keen to see him fight alongside Mario, Sonic and other game greats, he would be a fantastic addition to the next installment.
