As coronavirus cases continue to climb in New Jersey ahead of the holiday season, testing is ramping up statewide although long lines have been reported and wait times for results may vary.

People also waited several days for appointments at pharmacies such as CVS and RiteAid. New Jersey averaged more than 44,000 administered tests per day over the past week. This total does not include recently deployed rapid tests.

The statewide percent positivity rate on Thursday, the most recent day available, was 8.65%.

There were 2,785 patients in 71 hospitals across the state as of 10 p.m. Monday with the coronavirus or a suspected case, an increase from 2,693 in the previous 24-hour period.

New Jersey’s seven-day average for new positive tests rose to 4,050 – 13 percent more than a week ago and 261 percent more than a month earlier. Governor Phil Murphy on Monday announced 3,592 more cases of COVID-19 and 11 more deaths,
