After finalizing the purchase of a contract with the Memphis Grizzlies, Dwight Howard will sign an unsecured one year contract with the Los Angeles Lakers, announced to ESPN.
An agreement on the takeover of Howard has been concluded, said sources of the League.
The Lakers will have a leverage on Howard and can reduce it before the January 7 deadline of the NBA at no cost to the team. Howard moves the Lakers' lineup to 15 players.
The need to sign Howard came with a possible end-of-season injury at the DeMarcus Cousins Independent Agent Center.
The Lakers will be Howard's sixth team since signing as a free agent in Atlanta in 2016. He played with the Atlanta Hawks, Charlotte Hornets and Washington Wizards – and was suspended after being traded to the Brooklyn Nets and Memphis without ever wearing the uniform.
He played only nine games with Washington before his back surgery ended his season.
Howard played one season for the Lakers in 2012-13, then rejected them for the Houston Rockets freelance.
