Humane Society wins competition prize

An entry for the Humane Society of Uvalde was the first place winner at $ 50 in last week’s Uvalde Leader-News football competition.

This entry and an entry submitted by Carol Carter missed only one game.

But the HSU entry’s tiebreaker score from Green Bay to Pittsburgh, 20-17, was closer than Carter’s score from Green Bay 42, Pittsburgh 24. The actual score from the tiebreaker was Green Bay. 27, Pittsburgh 17.

Carter took home the second place prize of $ 40.

Johnny Coronado and 11 other participants missed just two games.

Coronado’s deciding score was Green Bay 26, Pittsburgh 17. He won third place by $ 30.

Others who only missed two games included Stephen Wood Sr., Robert Hernandez, Lucas Teague, American Red Cross, Andrew Quiroba, Roman Salazar, Gary Eagle, Garrett Eagle, Kim Eagle, Maria Miller and St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. There were 13 participants who missed three games. These were Ms. Lupe Zavala, Cipriano Galindo, Maxie Wayne Carter, Christopher Sanchez, Sandra P. Gonzalez, Monroe Carter, Emanuel Cassio, Lydia Moss, Jerry Bias, Zeke Hernandez, JM Diaz, Barbara Bias and JA, Ruiz. During the five weeks of the contest, a total of $ 720 was given to the contest winners. Registration forms can be found in each Sunday edition of the Leader-News.
