The Uvalde High School tennis team will host the Alice Coyotes in the bi-district tennis competition tomorrow afternoon.

Double play between UHS and Alice will begin at 1:00 p.m. at the Terri Rambie Tennis Complex.

The Uvaldéens are the District 29-4A team tennis champions.

Alice is the fourth place team in District 30-4A.

The winner of the Uvalde-Alice bi-district match will advance to face the winner between Port Isabel and Hidalgo Early College in the action Area.

Coach Terri Rambie’s Coyotes and Lobos, 15-5 for the season, enter into competition tomorrow after two-team action against San Antonio Marshall and Eagl ePass Winn yesterday, and a two-team game against Killeen on Friday afternoon. at the Rambie complex.

“As we have continued through the season our players have really improved every day which is what we want,” said coach Rambie. “They performed well and we just want to keep improving.

“By playing Killeen, Marshall and Winn, we hope to be ready to take on Alice Monday,” Rambie said. “We’ve had a pretty good season so far and we’re looking forward to more success. “

The results of both matches and the results of a Friday match between UHS and Killeen will be published in next Thursday’s edition of the Uvalde Leader-News.

Last Monday, as a two-man team, the Uvaldeans shut out the Floresville Tigers and Jaguars, 19-0, at the Rambie complex.

They won all six boys ‘singles matches, six girls’ singles matches, three boys ‘doubles matches, three girls’ doubles match and the mixed doubles match.

The Uvaldeans dominated most games, but four went to a tiebreaker.

Winners in boys’ singles for UHS included Ty Gonzalez, Colton Gaston, Jack Brock, Jacob Flores, Hector Lopez and Jonathon Garcia.

The girls’ singles winners for Uvalde were Allison Goggans, Elizabeth Phillips, Hope Dube Reagan Dodson Joana Reyes and Zoe Faust.

The UHS Men’s Doubles winners were Jack Brock and Colton Gaston, Jacob Flores and Hector Lopez, as well as Jonathon Garcia and Armando Garcia.

In girls’ doubles, the winners were Elizabeth Phillips and Hope Dube, Allison Goggans and Reagan Dodson, as well as Joana Reyes and Victoria Reyes.

Ty Gonzales and Michelle Miller teamed up to win in mixed doubles.

In other bi-district action featuring district teams, Hondo will place Kingsville, Devine will face Corpus Christi Callen, while Crystal City will face 30-4A District champion Corpus Christi Tuloso-Midway.

The UHS portion of regional support included TM, Crystal City, and Raymondville.
