JavaPos.com – Medical costs in Indonesia are guaranteed by the National Health Insurance (JKN) through the Social Security Administration Body ( BPJS) of health. But lately, some services and medications are no longer covered by BPJS or restricted.
One of these anticancer drugs is herceptin or trastuzumab which is no longer guaranteed BPJS Health since April 1, 2018. The termination of the guarantee is done on the basis of the following: a consideration of the BPJS Clinical Consideration Council which estimates that the Rp 25 million of anticancer drugs is not medically useful.
Hasbullah Thabrany, a member of the editorial team of BPJS Health and a professor at the Faculty of Public Health of the University of Indonesia (FKM UI), explains not only the cessation of drugs against cancer that worries people. But, there are also some service restrictions, including cataract surgery and physiotherapy.
"If the drug is only trastuzumab that is not supported, but the fuss is later physiotherapy and cataract surgery are limited, there are so many people ", he said.
According to Hasbullah, the restrictions of cataract surgery were made in terms of number of patients at the time of surgery. The cost is always supported, only the number of patients is limited in the implementation.
Similarly with physiotherapy services. BPJS participants can still do physiotherapy but the frequency is limited. For example previously could follow physiotherapy three times a week, this time should be limited.
"For example, an orthopedic doctor after a surgery to heal the patient must be a physiotherapy, but because it is limited, then the healing may be slow, the patient has also become the victim," Hasbullah said.
Please note, the problem is not guaranteed trastuzumab cancer drug by BPJS Health came to the surface because of complaints from Haryadi, husband Juniarti, cancer patients with bad who have guaranteed the drug has been stopped. He was surprised because BPJS stopped the guarantee against trastuzumab since April 1, 2018.
The BPJS policy is mentioned to cover financing (deficit). Until now, when JawaPos.com tried to contact, the BPJS has not provided any response to the latest information about it. (Ika / Marieska)
