The life of an Ipswich boy is set to be transformed after the NHS reached an agreement.
The family of seven-year-old George Woodward has been left behind by the news that it has been reached as a spin-off or nusinersen.
George, a pupil at Whitehouse Community Primary, has had his muscles progressively eliminated.
His family has been fighting for a number of years to have the drug, which could stabilize his condition, approved.
NHS England revealed on the way to a drug-free situation. Biogen to set up a time-limited trial for the drug to be more effective.
Should this be successful, NICE would then be able to formally approve the treatment for eligible patients.
"It was amazing," said Laura Barber, George's mum.
Ms Barber and George's dad Lee had been up there in the past.
"I really did not expect it," said Ms Barber, "We just thought it might be approved for type one.
