Ryanair convicted of breach of Spanish labor law

The Spanish Labor Inspectorate found that Ryanair had violated labor law, some of which were considered "very serious".

The findings are contained in a four-page judgment issued by the Labor Inspectorate and revealed by the Spanish union SITCPLA.

According to SITCPLA, it was established that Ryanair hindered the work of the inspectors in five cases, considered "very serious".

In eight cases, Ryanair was found guilty of violating the crew's right to strike, a violation deemed "serious".

In addition, the agencies with which Ryanair employs staff, Workforce International Contractors Ltd and Crewlink Ireland Ltd, have also been found to have violated workers' right to strike.

It is understood that the conclusions relate to the events surrounding the union protests of July 25 and 26, as well as September 28.

Employees received calls and emails asking them to confirm they were exercising their right to strike and they would sell products by air.

SITCPLA welcomed the findings of the Labor Inspectorate, along with his colleague, the USO.

It is unclear what level of penalties or sanctions could be imposed on the low-cost airline.

Ryanair has been contacted for an answer, which is expected.
