Damien Duff says he's still negotiating with Celtic regarding a coaching role and has admitted it would be an "incredible" opportunity to work with the Glasgow giants.
The RTÉ football journalist, currently Shamrock Rovers' under-15 boss, went to the Scottish club last week as Celtic sought to replace a coaching staff member since Shaun Maloney had left his squad. Under-20 manager position in September.
Duff confirmed that the discussions are still ongoing and said "with optimism" that something will happen.
"I spoke to them last week," he told viewers. "I went on the training ground and I met everyone – it was so impressive.For me and most of the Irish, they are one of the biggest clubs of the world.
"Reserves have a role to play, we always talk to them.
"I'm obsessed with learning and improving, this could be an amazing environment to do it."
"What route will I take after finishing football?" That's all I know, I did not go to school, so I can not go that route.
"I'm absolutely obsessed with football, obsessed with learning and development, it could be an incredible environment to do it."
The 39-year-old admitted that he "would go swimming to work there," but with one woman and two young children to consider, the decision is not entirely simple.
"When children are involved, it's obviously a difficult and emotional thing to do … maybe I'll have to bribe them with a dog," he joked. "I'm afraid of dogs, so I will obviously have to rent two houses there!
"It's an amazing club and something is going to happen hopefully."
